On 1 May students and allies in Sheffield, organised by the Sheffield Campus Coalition for Palestine (SCCP), set up an encampment at the University of Sheffield in solidarity with the people of Gaza and to protest Israel’s genocide there.
On 12 May I visited the encampment and conducted a short audio interview with Hanzalah Yaqub, a University of Sheffield student and SCCP member, which you can listen to above.

The encampment is also protesting the University of Sheffield’s significant links to the arms trade, and through this to the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Yesterday SCCP released a report detailing the extent of these links.
